Dinosaur in a tar pit

Stormin' Norman talks about the reasons we didn't invade Iraq in Evil Bush 41's term. Short video.

By late January, Schwarzkopf was singing a little different tune, saying Saddam had to go and that he was certain there'd be evidence of Saddam's WMDs as well as a Qaeda-Iraq link. But here's an interesting statement he made at the same time:

He said the scenario that worries him the most would be a "protracted" battle in downtown Baghdad, where troops would have to go "house-to-house." He said he has no idea what the U.S. military plan is, but he doesn't think the Iraqis will last very long in the face of U.S. military might.

"I lean toward the fact that it's going to be a very, very quick victory, hopefully not involving a lot of damage to civilians."

Hope is probably what most of the "planners" had, and little else. Hope is probably not the best thing to rely on when waging war.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
