The Mob

The U.S. military has launched a new "Most Wanted" campaign offering rewards of up to $200,000 for information leading to the capture of 12 Taliban and al-Qaida leaders.

[...]

"We're trying to get more visibility on these guys like the FBI did with the mob," said Lt. Col. Rob Pollock, a U.S. officer at the main American base in Bagram. "They operate the same way the mob did, they stay in hiding."

And like the mob, they are not one central organization. They have factions. So, I don’t know. Who would be most likely to know the whereabouts of these “most wanted” people? Who would have the access to them that would permit collecting on such a reward? I’d think it would be the people nearest them in the organization. Or maybe someone from a rival faction. In either case, I think there'd be a pretty good chance that reward money would end up right back in the organization, one faction or another.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.

  1. So will Karzai and Mullah Omar share the reward money if Karzai meets with Omar? (http://www.gulf-daily-news.com/Story.asp?Article=195408&Sn=WORL&IssueID=30194)

"They operate the same way the mob did, they stay in hiding."

Meanwhile, the US military operates the same way the Soviets did, they stay in Afghanistan.
