The Magician's Bag of Tricks

Paul Krugman is amazed that conservative pundits like Tucker Carlson "know for a fact" that rich people vote Democratic when the opposite is true.

It's not that they know something that's not true. They know the truth. It's a favored GOP tactic - loudly proclaim that your opponent is doing what you're doing if it could be perceived as a negative thing by the public.

I was just noticing this tactic again yesterday when I was reading something else, and one day maybe I'll search back through my earlier posts to find all the instances that I have chronicled. Because it is just incredibly amazing to me that they do this without hesitation and without shame, and apparently they get away with it.

  1. Its also a favoured tactic of young children ...I used to fall for it a young babysitter....not so as a parent.
So who are the adults in charge?
Its like our whole society has morfed into infantile blathering morons. Maybe its all that suckling at the media tit of tv...

  2. it does indeed seem society-wide. i wonder if it's the fact that our view has changed since we have aged, or if it truly is a pandemic regression. (certainly i think the argument could easily be made that tv has had a huge influence. too bad there is so little intellectual programming and so much mind numbing juvenile "entertainment".)

and perhaps societies, like individuals, pass through second childhood senility on their way to transitioning out of existence.

thanks for taking the time to offer your comments.
