Vice President Dick Cheney on Thursday ridiculed John Kerry's call for a "more sensitive" war on terror. Kerry's campaign said he was referring to reaching out to allies using a word President Bush has used and hit back at the Republican team's lack of military service in Vietnam.
Seizing on a phrase that the Democratic presidential nominee used in a speech last week, Cheney said sensitivity won't impress the Sept. 11 terrorists or the Islamic militants who have beheaded U.S. citizens.
"America has been in too many wars for any of our wishes, but not a one of them was won by being sensitive," Cheney told supporters in this swing state, a critical one for Republican presidential candidates. "Those who threaten us and kill innocents around the world do not need to be treated more sensitively. They need to be destroyed."
