Iraqis learn about civil rights

Iraqis visiting Memphis, Tennessee, on a civil rights tour had their own brush with history.

They were barred from city hall after the city council chairman said it was too dangerous to let them in.

The seven Iraqi civic and community leaders are in the midst of a three-week, State Department-sponsored American tour to learn more about the process of government.

The Iraqis were scheduled to meet with a city council member.

However that meeting was prevented from taking place due to objections from Chairman Joe Brown.

A host of the group alleges Brown even threatened to evacuate City Hall and bring in the bomb squads if the visitors entered.
