WMD reports will be blamed on the CIA

A U.S. newspaper is reporting that relatives of Iraqi scientists told the Central Intelligence Agency before the war that former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein had abandoned efforts to develop weapons of mass destruction.

The New York Times Tuesday says the CIA failed to deliver those statements to President Bush as he publicly warned that Baghdad was pursuing banned weapons.

The Senate Committee's report is expected to rake the CIA over the coals for this one. Fine. But I am not encouraged by anything that lets BushCo off the hook. Because BushCo repeatedly called for evidence that backed up their intention to invade Iraq, telling people to go back and find evidence they wanted found if their reports didn't produce it the first time around. So, the CIA may have failed to deliver reports for any number of reasons, but they all point to the same reason: BushCo demanded a clear path to invasion.

This information is really old hat. Powell and Rice both stated publicly that Saddam no longer had WMD or the capability of producing them before the opportunity arose to make a case for invasion. If the CIA gets hung out to dry for this, I'm going to have to wonder why they permit themselves to be.

I don't think this game is going to be over even after the Pointless Commission comes out with its worthless report.

....but hey, you think what you want....you will anyway.
