TASER (they come in pink for you ladies) has great advertisements. Like this one, and this one, which includes the information that “over 270,000 law enforcement professionals have come to rely on TASER devices to protect life.” Yes, that’s what they do with them – they protect life. The UN's Committee against Torture has declared that tasers are a form of torture that can kill. Indeed. (See this post.)
There are lots of stories of outrageous police abuse with tasers (and now they have the new ones with which they can fire off three shots without having to reload). I see them more and more often. Usually I don’t post about the individual cases, but I did post about the deaf guy in the toilet. I didn't post about the 76-year-old man on an antique tractor in a town parade who accidentally bumped into a police car. This recent one may be equally outrageous:
A police officer in the Syracuse, New York, area Tasered a 37-year-old mom repeatedly in front of her children during a routine traffic stop—and then arrested the mom, leaving the children alone in their family minivan for 40 minutes in freezing weather.

Either take away the tasers or stop putting goons on the police force.
