...even if you don't have a rough hewn rail.
MoveOn e-mail:
Dear MoveOn member,
We're entering the final stretch of our $10 million fundraising campaign to run ads in swing states that expose the truth about George Bush's policies. Together, in only six weeks, we've raised an astonishing $7.2 million in small contributions from over 117,000 people.
It's just amazing.
Together, we have an opportunity to change the face of politics -- to show Washington the power and importance of real Americans working together. But to do that, we don't just need more money -- we need more contributors. When we reach the $10 million mark, the success of our campaign will depend on the number of people who participated in it.
That's why until the end of the week, we're adding some incentive for folks to jump in. If you make your first contribution this week -- of at least $20 -- or encourage someone else to make their first contribution, then we'll match that with $20 from our challenge grants. We're looking for new donors -- you, your mom, your friends, your boss, or whoever. Contribute $20 or more, and you can help us make history.
You can contribute by credit card or check at:

We've put up a running tally on the page above so you can see how many new folks are pitching in. And if you spread this email far and wide, you can track the amount of contributions you made happen -- money given by people you emailed -- at this link:

Today, we're launching some of our best ads to date. The ads are a seasonal and humorous dig at the out-of-control corporate subsidies to Bush's campaign donors that can be found in this week's Omnibus spending bill. Featuring President Bush as a sort of big-donor Santa Claus, the ads point out that while Halliburton and big pharmaceutical companies and the media conglomerates clearly made Bush's Christmas list, the American people didn't.
"It's called the Omnibus," the print ad starts. "No, it's not Santa's sleigh, but it is laden with presents. It's coming to Washington, DC this week. And you better believe the Bush Administration's best friends have front row seats." Then it details the giveaways in the bill. Our TV ad concludes: "Yes, big contributors, there is a Santa Claus. But he's not at the North Pole. He's in the White House."
And thanks to more than 1,000 MoveOn PR volunteers, we're pitching this ad campaign to news outlets in nearly every media market in the country -- greatly amplifying the effect of these ads.

With our ads, we've been able to reach out further than almost any other group to voters in swing states. But our community is also growing by leaps and bounds in other ways. Last Wednesday, we launched a petition to stop the massive corporate giveaways in the Omnibus spending bill. Over 10,000 new people have joined MoveOn as a result. On Sunday, MoveOn members held over 2,000 house parties across the country to screen the new documentary "Uncovered." Over 50,000 people participated in those. Now, with your help, we'll bring lots of new folks into the $10 million campaign.
For your continued support, thank you. Together, we're changing the way politics works.
Sincerely,
--Carrie, Eli, James, Joan, Noah, Peter, Wes, and Zack

P.S. For those of you involved with the house parties, we'll have a full report later this week. In the mean time, check out our interactive map of the house parties, which includes photos from hundreds of them across the country:
