Bob doesn't want Clinton's secretary of state Madeleine-we think the cost of thousands of dead Iraqi children due to our sanctions is worth it for our goals-Albright on his boat.
I can't blame him there.
He sends along a link to an interesting article that contains, not only the Albright quote, but other tidbits that are good to keep in mind, as well, so as not to forget how we softened up the target for the kill...
Such as:
* Iraq's dams and water treatment plants were specifically targeted in Poppy's war, while there were simultaneous embargoes on chlorine and medicines
* Iraq did not throw out weapons inspectors in 1998 as, to this day, the administration likes to claim; rather, they were pulled out by the UN at the behest of the U.S. in preparation for our unprovoked airstrikes (that old softy, Clinton!)
* "the CIA had been using weapons inspection as a cover for military espionage (Washington Post, 1/6/99; Extra!, 3-4/99)--rendering verification that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction impossible"
* In February 2001, U.S. and British planes attacked Iraqi radar installations ("This was part of a comprehensive plan for multiple strikes, with a U.S. government official quoted (on MSNBC, 9/14/01) as saying 'Hitting targets one by one doesn't draw the same kind of attention or reaction. It takes longer, but it should eventually get the job done.'")
Thanks for the link Bob.
