Missed amongst the headlines

Bush's other nomination:
Washington- President Bush has nominated a prominent Northeast Ohio business leader and top Republican fund-raiser with no diplomatic experience to be the next U.S. ambassador to Germany.

"He is an experienced executive," Abney said. "He brings a lot of experience to the post."

Timken, 66, has long been a major Bush backer. He served as Ohio finance co-chairman for the Bush-Cheney campaign in 2004 and was one of the elite class of "Rangers" who raised more than $200,000 for the ticket. His company also donated $250,000 to the presidential inaugural festivities this year.
