Satanic verses

Maru posted this story....
The Norwood school district has banned Rudolfo Anaya's acclaimed book "Bless Me, Ultima," saying it is too profane for the 96 students of Norwood High.

[...]

Superintendent Bob Conder said some parents were offended by obscenities and paganistic practices in the 1972 coming-of-age novel about a 7-year-old boy's life with his staunchly Catholic mother and with Ultima, who uses herbs and magic to heal.

[...]

Conder, who said he hasn't read the entire book, gave more than two dozen copies to a parent to destroy. The teacher who ordered the book has apologized and won't be disciplined, he said.
  The Denver Channel article

No surprise that the book "offends" a bunch of paranoid ignorants in Colorado, but it's on Laura Bush's recommended reading list!

Like I've been telling you....those fundies are going to have a meltdown when they finally come to terms with the fact that the Bushes are the anti-Christ and family.

P.S. The teacher might have been disciplined for ordering the book? And for ordering a book on the president's wife's suggested reading list at that.

Man, this country is getting creepier by the minute.
