And speaking of Social Security

Asked how he would guarantee that people older than 55 would not see a cut in benefits, the president responded, “That’s a guarantee that we’ll have to make. I don’t know how you guarantee someone 30 years from now, but that is obviously a promise that can be kept and must be kept.”

Democrats questioned Tuesday how Bush could do that.

U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, acknowledged the president’s pledge, but said, “He will not say how he will protect them.”
  Quad City Times article
No, Harkin. What he said was he doesn't know how to.
The president did seem to suggest that currently scheduled benefits may not fit with long-term reality.

“Benefit cuts is an interesting word,” Bush said. “Benefits are scheduled to grow at a certain rate, and one of the, one of the suggestions, for example ... was they grow at a, they grow, but not at a rate as fast as projected. You can call it anything you want. I would call it an adjustment to reality,” he said.
I would suggest that El Dopo and all his dopey followers need an adjustment to reality a lot more urgently than the Social Security program does.

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
