More on Kerry's unspent campaign funds

John Kerry's unsuccessful presidential campaign left him with millions of dollars in seed money for a 2008 Senate or presidential bid.

The Democrat transferred $4 million in leftover money from his 2004 presidential-primary campaign to his Senate campaign fund, campaign finance reports he filed Monday with the Federal Election Commission show.

Kerry's primary campaign had nearly $10 million left after the transfer. Kerry can use that money and the millions moved to his Senate campaign to seek re-election to his Massachusetts seat in 2008 or to run for president again.

Bush also filed year-end campaign finance reports with the FEC.

Bush's general-election campaign reported $2.7 million the bank and $1.4 million in debts. His primary-campaign fund had about $700,000 left, while a separate fund formed to cover legal and accounting costs had nearly $16 million on hand as this year began.

Combined, Bush and Kerry spent a record of more than $600 million on last year's presidential race.

And well worth every penny.

Transferred presidential primary funds to his Senate campaign fund? If I were a poor Democrat slob who sent money to Kerry, I'd ask for a refund out of that $4 million. If he didn't spend it to get the job done, he should give it back.
