Maybe George can liberate the Iranians before November

Amidst threats by Iran to restart its uranium enrichment program if the UN passed a rebuking resolution, and rumors that Iranian forces are gathering on the Iraqi border, the UN passed a resolution. Not as specific as it might have been apparently, but a "harsh" rebuke.

Washington's ambassador to the IAEA Kenneth Brill said the body had shown in its resolution that the international community rejected "Iran's continuing tactics of delay, denial and deception".

But Mr Brill said the IAEA, which did not set a deadline for concluding a 15-month-long probe, must realise that "every passing day" could bring Iran "closer to producing the enriched uranium needed for nuclear bombs".

"The list of unresolved issues is longer now than it was in March," he said.

Iran's Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi criticised the resolution, saying Iran would meet its commitments but would accept no new obligation.

He said: "The IAEA has not done a purely technical job.

"It has acted under pressure from certain political circles, especially American.

"If it had considered matters from a purely technical aspect, it would have closed the file."

Already, mistakes in intelligence are being admitted.

Where have we heard this story before?

The UN nuclear watchdog was forced to make an embarrassing admission on Thursday, that it had wrongly accused Iran of withholding information about imports of potentially weapons-related technology.

It seems to me that, even if it's true Iran is amassing troops on the Iraqi border, rather than to take advantage of a vacuum when (don't they mean if?) American troops pull out of Iraq as has been suggested, Iran could be preparing for defensive action. And that would go for their alleged nuclear program as well. Watching the U.S. in action, it would seem like a reasonable thing for the Iranian government to assume it's next in line for some "liberating".

....but hey, do what you want....you will anyway.
