Terror strikes London

Huge explosions rocked London on Thursday, killing several people and disrupting a meeting of Group of Eight leaders in Scotland in an attack Prime Minister Tony Blair called "barbaric."

Several subway stations also were hit in up to seven apparently coordinated blasts in the morning rush hour.

In the confusion, the human toll of the blasts was unclear, with reports suggesting that dozens of people may have been killed and maimed. CNN reported that at least 10 people were confirmed dead at King's Cross station.

Markets fell sharply and Blair told reporters he would return to London from the G8 summit to take personal charge of the response to the emergency.
