Imperial Hubris

I was wondering earlier about this book and the anonymous author.

A senior US intelligence official is about to publish a bitter condemnation of America's counter-terrorism policy, arguing that the west is losing the war against al-Qaida and that an "avaricious, premeditated, unprovoked" war in Iraq has played into Osama bin Laden's hands.

At that time I suggested that the book was permitted to be published under anonymous authorship so the agent could keep his job.

Now, after reading a Political Animal thread, I think it's more than that. I think the administration wanted this book published because it actually furthers the cause of their all-out war. It says what they can't (but Bill O'Reilly can): we need to nuke the planet.
