Expanding Team Bush to include the House GOP Steering Committee, you can't fit that sentiment much better than this. They need to replace Doolittle on the Appropriations committee due to the embarassment of his being under investigation by the FBI (Abramoff related). So they chose to replace him with Ken Calvert who's under investigation by the FBI. Go figger.

Actually, I'm not sure why they thought they needed to replace Doolittle. After all, the ranking member of the Appropriations committee, Jerry Lewis, is also under investigation. Co-incidentally, all three are California Republicans.

All three are also on CREW's (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) 20 most corrupt congress members list. (That must have been hard to narrow down. And, by the way, 3 of the 20 are Democrats.)

Dr. Doolittle

[Rep. John Doolittle (R-CA)] wrote a guest column in his hometown newspaper, the Auburn Journal. In the column Doolittle claims that the Justice Department raided his home in Northern Virginia and subsequently leaked news of the raid in order to give AG Alberto Gonzales ammunition to argue that he's evenhanded in pursuing Democratic and Republican corruption.
